Goals and Research Plan

GOALS:
  • To support cultural preservation efforts to help promote world heritage for the benefit of scholars, teachers, students, and the general public.
  • To offer a platform for the free exchange of ideas and knowledge.
  • To help record the history of jewelry and beads, with special emphasis on making unique contributions to scholarship.

RESEARCH PLAN:

Ten steps we follow when analyzing examples of jewelry or beads:
  • Who created this object, meaning which culture?
  • When was this object created, meaning an estimated time period? And,
  • Where was this object created, meaning a specific region of the world?
We also ask other important questions:
  • Materials used to create object?
  • Techniques used to create the object?
  • Condition of the object, including any repairs or modification?
  • Scientific Test Data, if available?
  • Provenance or history of past ownership of the object?
  • Collection Data, collected from public and private sources?
  • Sources, including field data, publications and professional opinions?
